The QA Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, to provide first aid in a range of emergency first aid situations. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide basic first aid in voluntary and community activities.

During this 1 day course, Learners will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations, including:

  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • Assessing an incident
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR and defibrillation
  • Recovery Position
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Shock
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Minor injuries

HSE guidelines state that employers should ensure their first aiders remain competent to perform their role. As such, it is strongly recommended that first aiders undertake annual refresher training to practise their skills and update their knowledge on the latest first aid procedures.

The First Aid at Work Annual Refresher qualification is specifically designed to allow qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly until requalification training is required. Successful candidates will leave with a renewed confidence, having had the opportunity to practise essential first aid procedures, as well as learn the latest techniques needed to deal with an emergency situation. With all subjects covered in just half a day, this course is an ideal way to satisfy HSE requirements while minimising disruption to your organisation’s day to day activities!

Would you know how to react in the event of a terrorist attack?

Whenever there is a shooting, stabbing or bomb explosion, the initial priority is understandable to ensure public safety, which can, unfortunately, cause delays to the emergency services being able to reach the injured.

The QA Level 2 Award in citizenAID (RQF) has been specially developed to help members of the public learn life-saving skills for use in these extreme situations. Based on the citizenAID phone App and pocket guide, this regulated qualification is designed to teach people how to react safely, prioritise the injured and give first aid to victims in the event of deliberate multiple casualty incidents.

During this 3 hour course, candidates will have the opportunity to practise techniques for dealing with catastrophic bleeding and will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to save lives in the aftermath of a terrorist attack.

Anaphylaxis is a severe and life-threatening allergic reaction, which requires immediate medical attention. With the number of sufferers increasing each year, it is extremely important to know what to do when faced with this acute emergency condition.

The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.

Successful candidates will be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and will be equipped with the vital skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective treatment.

This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in basic life support and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage in emergency situations and has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or involuntary and community activities to provide BLS when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an AED. This course is delivered over half a day and allows learners to develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics include:

  • Managing an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR
  • Using an AED on both adults and children
  • Combining AED use with CPR and more

This 3 hour certificated course is for people who want to learn basic knowledge and skills around:

  • Incident management
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Recognition and how to treat a chocking casualty
  • How to deal with an unconscious, breathing casualty
  • Secondary survey and the chain of survival

The course is delivered using various teaching methods in order to facilitate a positive learning experience for all. Theoretical and practical assessments are completed throughout in a supportive manner to aid participant progression, and to give participants the confidence and knowledge to be able to give emergency first aid.
